Jean Alesi表示Michael Schumacher之所以願意復出，不僅是因Mercedes-BENZ提供機會，Rubens Barrichello的好表現也是原因之一。

前FERRARI車手Jean Alesi認為，Rubens Barrichello去年的強勁表現，是激發Michael Schumacher決定復出的其中一個原因。Michael Schumacher和Rubens Barrichello曾在FERRARI共事多年，2006年尾當Michael Schumacher決定退休後，只比他小3歲的Rubens Barrichello依舊馳騁在F1賽場，並不斷刷新著最多參賽場次的記錄。

Jean Alesi認為，昔日隊友在F1賽道上強勁的表現，是激發Michael Schumacher決定復出的其中一個原因。「Rubens Barrichello直到倒數第二站比賽仍有奪冠機會，但是在FERRARI時期，Rubens Barrichello一直在Michael Schumacher的控制之下。Michael Schumacher可能會對自己說：如果Rubens Barrichello都能跑在前面，那我照樣能！」Jean Alesi對媒體說到。
Jean Alesi相信像Michael Schumacher這樣視賽車如生命的人，得到M-BENZ提供的出賽機會，他是很難拒絕的。「如果你身為一名車手放棄了F1，這就好比你失去了最好的朋友一樣。我離開F1後藉由DTM來調整自己，如果我像Michael Schumacher一樣得到頂尖車隊提供的復出機會，那我也會回到F1的。」Jean Alesi如此表示。
